Several
years ago, it was getting close to Valentine’s Day,
believe it or not I didn’t have anything for Renee. With
only a couple of days left I went to a florist and
ordered flowers for her. When I said that I would like
them delivered the lady looked somewhat perplexed and
said, “Do they have to be delivered on Valentine’s Day?”
Well DUH! Somehow I don’t think they would have the same
significance on the next day. Yes, they would still say
that I love you, but everyone would think that I had
forgot about Valentine’s Day and these were “Get out of
the Dog House” flowers.
What God did in sending Jesus was not some last ditch
effort, to correct the mess he had made and save his
creation. It happened at just the right time. Paul says
in Galatians 4:4, “But when the fullness of the time had
come, God sent forth His Son, . . .” Jesus’ appearance
on the human stage was at the exact moment that God
intended. The Gospel of John records what Jesus said was
the motivation behind that appearing, “For God so loved
the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him should not perish but have
everlasting life.”
Jesus came at the right time for the right reasons.
Shouldn’t we respond to him with the best that we have
and not simply seek to get out of the “Dog House?” Now
is the right time for each of us to give him our best.
