Hello! This time around we have an overly used advertisement that has been around for A while and used many different ways. I would like to borrow it for it’s real intended purpose!

“JUST DO IT!”
“DO NOT MERELY LISTEN TO THE WORD, AND SO DECEIVE YOURSELVES. DO WHAT IT SAYS.”
JAMES 1:22 NIV

It is very important to listen to what God’s Word says, but it is much more important to OBEY it, to DO what it says. We have to be careful here! I’m raising my hand and hollering guilty on this one. It’s time to be a Doer, not just a hearer! Walking around feeling good all week because I listened to Fred’s sermon on Sunday is just not gettin’ it. This scripture speaks to me with great volume.

Someone expressed it in a little poem like this:
It’s easier to preach than to practice;
It’s easier to say than do.
Most sermons are heard by the many,
But taken to heart by the few.

I John 1:8 KJV says: “But be ye Doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” Self-deception is just awful. The apostle John says that those who say they don’t have any sin in their lives do not deceive anyone but themselves. It is very easy to fall into the trap of rationalizing our sin and inaction. I’ve heard it said like this before – YOU MAY BE THE ONLY BIBLE THAT SOMEONE EVER READS!

The emphasis is studying and praying and all the other things that go along with biblical exercise. Show yourself approved by rightly dividing the word of God. A real transformation of the mind! We can do this by being poised, by being ready to go, and by sharing the kingdom of God with worldly people during the week. This means saying something about Jesus when the Holy Spirit gives you a nudge. We’re not selling anything. We’re preparing people to meet eternity. It’s about being ready at all times concerning our Savior to do his will in our lives. To show that we live what we believe. If you are asked to do something that is clearly in God’s will, don’t say sorry I can’t, “JUST DO IT”.

The point here is that we strive to be in God’s Will. Period. I know that’s where I’d like to be as much as possible. Life has a better quality. Sometimes it’s not just a feel good thing. Sometimes things get tough but we have to stay in there. It’s all about God. We’re not going to be perfect…but we’re going to keep trying and praying! Lifting one another up and reading God’s Word is essential for our success. Let’s be READY to get out there and “JUST DO IT”!
