“COME FOLLOW ME ,” JESUS SAID, “AND I WILL MAKE YOU
FISHERS OF MEN.” AND THEY IMMEDIATELY LEFT THE SHIP AND
THEIR FATHER, AND FOLLOWED HIM.
MATTHEW 4:19, 22
In this passage James and his brother, John along with
Peter and Andrew, were the first disciples that Jesus
called to work with him. Other scriptures show that this
wasn't their first meeting with Jesus. However, Jesus'
call motivated these men to get up and leave their jobs
right then! They didn't make excuses about why it wasn't
a good time. They left at once and followed. Jesus calls
each of us to follow him. When He asks us to serve him,
we must be like the disciples and do it straight away.
There have been many confirmations over the last couple
of weeks concerning this scripture and catchphrase. It
appears that God is saying this over and over. What is
God saying? “I can use you no matter who you are, I just
need you to LISTEN to me. I need you to stop waffling
around and commit yourself to me. Follow me! Trust me!
You won't be perfect, just be willing to cooperate.”
In reference to the scripture above, J. V. McGee writes
“the wonder of it all is that Jesus called men like
this. I have always felt that since He called imperfect
men like the disciples were, He may be able to use me,
and He may be able to use YOU.” He adds “years ago a
lady in my church was absolutely tongue-tied when it
came to witnessing for Christ, but she could bake the
most marvelous cakes! She used to deplore the fact of
her inability to witness, and I said to her one day,
‘Did it ever occur to you that the Lord may want you in
the church family to bake cakes?’ That may seem
ridiculous, but it is not. The important thing for us is
to give ourselves to Him. Under His direction He won't
have us all doing the same thing because He gives us
separate gifts”.
The single most important choice we will ever make is to
live our lives for Jesus. I choose Jesus (the Way the
Truth and the Life)! What will your choice be? Are you
SOLD OUT for JESUS?
Get out there and JUST DO IT...but PRAY First!
