“Loving families and strengthening our community through Christian outreach and fellowship.” At the Hominy Valley Welcome Table (hosted in our Fellowship Hall) we provided a hot, nutritious meal that was served with love and a smile and where everyone feels a sense of welcome and belonging in the Hominy Valley community. The meal was free, but donations were received. We celebrated 11 years in service in February 2020 and have served over 45,000 meals to our community. **Unfortunately due to COVID, we are unable to host this weekly meal at this time.**
For decades, Francis Asbury has been supportive of ABCCM, a comprehensive, ecumenical outreach ministry serving the spiritual, social, physical, economic and emotional needs of our neighbors throughout Buncombe County. We receive a monthly offering for ABCCM and consistently collect & deliver items for the Hominy Valley Center of ABCCM which directly serves those in need in our community. We also support ABCCM’s various other Ministries & Campaigns i.e. “Safe & Warm”, Veterans Restoration Quarters, Transformation Village, etc. We have numerous folks from our congregation who volunteer at the Hominy Valley Crisis Center each & every week.
Because we feel committed to helping the schools in our neighborhood and realize that funding for public school education is in crisis, we support the Faculty and Staff of Enka Middle School by preparing and serving a lunch to them on their campus twice a year as well as monthly morale boosters. We also support the school with school supplies, beds-in-a-box, Christmas gifts for families, immediate need requests from the social worker, etc.
We provide 25 backpack food bags each week for children at Sand Hill-Venable Elementary School who experience food scarcity over the weekends.
We receive Communion on the first Sunday of each month. In response for God’s great love for us through Jesus, we ask that people give at least one dollar to a special ministry in our community, nation or world. Since beginning these monthly offerings, Francis Asbury has given to a wide variety of ministries here and abroad for years.
